Extratime announce Euro 2016 coverage
Published: March 24, 2016

Extratime.ie continues to bring you to the heart of Irish football. This summer is no different and, timed nicely with the League of Ireland break, our team will travel to France to bring you coverage of UEFA Euro 2016.

Not only will we be following the Boys in Green from Paris to Bordeaux to Lille (and hopefully beyond!) but our five man team on the ground will also bring you action from right across the European Championships.

Our team are set to be based in Paris for the first week of the tournament before hitting the road around France. Photographer Al Robinson will be on hand to see the kick off of the competition. He will be pitchside as the tournament gets under way in the Stade de France on Friday June 10 when France play Romania. Al is hoping to capture as much as possible as he travels to six different stadia for us during the group stages. Pack a few extra memory cards Al!

Dave Donnelly is our Ireland reporter for the tournament and he will be in the press box for all the Ireland games and with his microphone in hand at the mixed zone after to get the player reaction. Dave’s love of Albanian football will also come in handy in the first weekend of the tournament when he sees the Eagles take on Switzerland.

We all love a good local derby and Gareth O’Reilly is no different. Amongst his games will be a trip to Lens, which will be the focus for much attention on June 16 when England take on Wales. A fan of French Baroque architecture, Gareth is hoping to quietly slip away from an Ireland press conference and head next door to check out the Palace of Versailles. Minute-by-minute updates from his walk through the Hall of Mirrors may get uploaded to extratime.ie.

Macdara Ferris, who reported from Brazil for us during the last World Cup, is covering a number of games for extratime.ie in France. His man-crush on Joachim Löw continues and two of the matches he will be attending are with the World Champions. Having covered Germany v Poland in the Frankfurt during the qualifiers, we are sending him back to see those two teams do battle again. When Löw’s side take on a Northern Ireland side managed by former Shamrock Rovers manager Michael O’Neill, we thought Macdara would be a good person to have in Parc des Princes to bring all the action to you.

Like a school teacher on a ski trip to the Alps, extratime.ie owner Gareth Penrose is making the trip to keep an eye on his young kids to make sure they don't get up to any trouble. Any mistakes that miss the editing process will be blamed on Gareth.

As well as covering the games live on the ground we will also have a large reporting team back in the Emerald Isle as we aim to have a dedicated Euro 2016 site complete with coverage of all the other fascinating fixtures taking place.
