Sean Houston's goal earned Harps a first point of the season.

Finn Harps and Galway United picked up their first points of the season as they played out a 1-1 draw at Finn Park on Friday night.

Harps opened the scoring just before the half-hour as Paddy McCourt picked out Sean Houston, who showed good feet to control and shoot in one movement, beating Conor Winn in the corner.

It was all Galway from there, however, and Kevin Devaney hit the crossbar shortly afterwards. The winger eventually got his goal after the break with a brilliant turn and finish.

Ronan Murray thought he'd given his side the lead with a volley that came off the inside of the post and somehow stayed out, and Vinny Faherty headed onto the top of the bar as Galway pressed.

Harps held out, however, and Ollie Horgan will have gone home the more relieved of the two managers despite seeing his side cough up a half-time lead.
