Shelbourne are set to leave their long-time home of Tolka Park in the coming seasons to move into a ground-share with Bohemians at the redeveloped Dalymount Park.

In the meantime, Dublin City Council have taken over running of a ground that had gradually deteriorated in recent years despite the best efforts and investment of the club's tireless volunteers.

Film-maker Paul Cahill paid a visit to Tolka to take in the EA Sports Cup second round tie between Shels and Longford Town, alongside 190 other lunatics (Longford won 2-0).

While there, he spoke to Shelbourne volunteers John McGouran, Liam Ward and Frank Young, and Longford Town fan Paddy McDonald, about their passion for supporting their football club.

As Ward puts it, “it's the fact that it's so off the wall, and so depressing, and so eccentric. That's part of the appeal. If you had 22 really professional clubs with lovely facilities, it wouldn't be the same.”
