McEleney brought his tally for the season up to five with this strike.

Watch: Patrick McEleney's stunning chip for Dundalk at Drogheda United
Published: June 18, 2017

Patrick McEleney has made a habit of scoring spectacular goals since moving to Dundalk last season, and particularly since taking up a more central creative role this year.

Already this season we've seen a goal of the decade contender in a 3-0 destruction of St Patrick's Athletic and this unstoppable strike to see of a valiant Limerick in Oriel Park.

And there must be something in the air in the air in Louth apart from diesel fumes as he produced another from the top drawer in the 6-0 win over Drogheda United at United Park on Friday.

Granted, the match turned into something of a chicken-shoot the moment Drogs' Thomas Byrne was dismissed after half an hour, and a number of the challenges on McEleney are of the tired variety.

Yet there's nothing you can take away from this finish, a wonderfully-weighted chip into the top corner that recalls a similar finish from Jason Byrne at Richmond Park a while back.

Despite Conan Byrne's incredible efforts, the league has been missing a regular scoring of worldies since Chris Forrester left Pats a couple of years back. In McEleney, it appears we've found an heir.
