Longford Town announce signing of Sam Verdon and Paul Finnegan

First Division side Longford Town have announced the signings of Sam Verdon and Paul Finnegan.

 

The pair join the club following the departure of the trio of Stephen Walsh, Enda Curran and Mark Langtry (see here).

 

Sam Verdon previously played for St. Pat's since 2013 making 38 SSE Airtricity League appearances for the Saints during his time at the club. He scored in the Leinster Senior Cup final win against Longford Town in 2014 and has some European experience with Pats having played against Jeunesse Esch in the Europa League qualifiers last year.

 

Paul Finnegan joins Longford Town following a stint in the Irish League with Cliftonville. He made 10 appearances for Cliftonville before joining the Town. Finnegan has played League of Ireland football before with Bray Wanderers, making four appearances for the Seagulls. He also spent time with Dundalk. While he didn't make a league appearance, he did play in various cup competitions. 

 

These signings are new manager Neale Fenn's first foray into the transfer market and came just after the Town's first defeat under his reign at home to Waterford at the City Calling Stadium.
