About Robbie Keane
Robbie started his career at Dublin side Crumlin United, joining the youth academy at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1995. He spent four years at Molineux, scoring 24 times in 73 league appearances, moving to Coventry City for £6m in 1999.
After just one season at Coventry he made a shock move to Inter Milan who paid £13m for his services in 2000. He made just 6 league appearances in Italy before returning to England where he joined Leeds United on loan. This deal became permanent in May 2001 and he scored 13 goals in 46 league appearances.
In 2002 Robbie signed for Glen Hoddle at Tottenham Hotspur and he spent the next six years at White Hart Lane, scoring 82 times in 197 league outings. His next move, for £19m, was to Liverpool in July 2008. But his time at Anfield was short and unhappy. He returned to Spurs just six months later for a reduced fee of £12m.
Robbie made another 41 league appearances for Tottenham but the last year of his time there was spent out on loan, first At Celtic, and then at West Ham. In August 2011 he finally left the club, choosing to sign for Californian side LA Galaxy.
In January 2012 Robbie spent two months on loan at Aston Villa while he waited for the US summer season to start and in March of that year he returned to Los Angeles.
Robbie began his international career against the Czech Republic in March 1998 and, ahead of the 2016 European Championship, he has 143 caps and 67 goals to his name. He was included in the Republic of Ireland's final squad for the 2016 European Championship.
