About Derek Prendergast
Derek signed for Bray Wanderers in June 2010 from Dublin side Bangor Celtic. He made his debut for the Seagulls in a 0-0 home draw against Shamrock Rovers on 25 June 2010 and made 18 league appearances that year, scoring once in a 2-0 win over Dundalk in September. Derek scored two more league goals for Bray in 2011, and made 29 league appearances as the club finished sixth in the Premier Division table.
In January 2012 Derek signed for Mick Cooke at Drogheda United. He went on to play in 28 league games for Drogheda as they finished second in the league and also picked up an EA Cup winner's medal as Drogheda beat Shamrock Rovers in the final. Derek played in three more cup finals in 2013 but the Drogs lost the deciders in the Setanta EA and FAI Cups. Derek added 20 more league appearances that year but left the club at the end of the 2013 season to follow manager Mick Cooke to newly promoted Athlone Town.
Derek played in twenty-eight league games for Athlone, scoring one goal, as they were relegated at the end of the season. In December 2014, Derek followed his Athlone boss Keith Long and several team-mates to Bohemians. He went on to make twenty-eight league appearances for the club, scoring four times in the process, as the club finished fifth in the 2015 Premier Division table. Derek racked up another 28 league appearances in 2016.
In December 2016 Derek left Bohemians to sign for Owen Heary at Shelbourne ahead of their 2017 First Division campaign.
